The pandemic, energy costs, cost of living crisis and Brexit have created a perfect storm when it comes to childcare costs. For many parents, it is now becoming too expensive to work. It is forcing many people (especially women who often take on the majority of childcare, and are often the lowest paid in a family) to quit their jobs. The government needs to act, but companies can also support. Subsidised childcare, part time working, flexibility in hours worked could all help working parents. Keep those doors open to conversations about how you can flex to keep your people in the workforce.
We have just had World Mental Health Day so this month I am introducing Constructing Rainbows mental health partner - Tara Powell from We Are Inclusive Minds. I did my Mental Heath First Aid training with Tara back in 2018 and she approaches a difficult topic in an empathetic and friendly manner, particularly as many of us in the room had our own experiences of mental health struggles.
Tara now offers a range of mental health training for businesses including MHFA, I-ACT and recently launched menopause training. If you are interested in finding out more, get in touch.
